AHS Wall of Fame Induction- 2022
The Algona High School Wall of Fame is an annual induction of individuals or teams who have contributed to the success of the athletic department. As it states on their website, “the hope of the Algona High School Wall of Fame Committee is to provide the opportunity to pay tribute to the rich tradition of athletic success at Algona High School, while at the same time providing motivation and inspiration to our current students. The concept that you can achieve greatness as a student of AHS is one that can never be stressed enough.”
This year two teams are being honored-
1993 Class 3-A State Track Champions
The 1993 boys track and field team put on a show at the state meet by winning four events and placing in a fifth event during the two day competition. The championship was secured by finishing first in the 4 X 400 meter relay, an event they had to win, by holding off Hull Western Christian by eleven hundredths of a second!
1964 Boys Basketball, 3rd place at state tournament (All-Class)
The 1964 Bulldog basketball team finished the year with a 23-3 record including a Conference Championship and a 3rd place finish at the state tournament (an 8 team tournament / all classes) where they defeated Fort Dodge in the opening round before falling to Cedar Rapids Jefferson in the Semi-Finals. The Bulldogs would come back strong against Dubuque Walhart to claim the 3rd place trophy.
