The AHS Drama department will present "The Play That Goes Wrong" on Saturday, April 1st at 7:00 PM & Sunday, April 2nd at 4:00 PM in the Wilcox PAC. Cost is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.
Congratulations to those AHS music students who participated in the IHSMA State Solo/Ensemble Festival on Saturday! The event was held in Spencer and included around 45 of our music students.
A note from Mr. Cater- With the 2 Hour Late Start on Thursday, March 23rd, our students are not on schedule to attend school the required 1080 hours. However, we only need to make a small adjustment to allow us to reach that number. On Thursday, April 6th, students will be dismissed at our normal dismissal times rather than one hour early as we posted on our original calendar.
Thanks you for your continued support and flexibility!
Joe Carter -- Superintendent
This weekend is the AHS spring play! You can read more about it below by student writer, Olivia Hanig. Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.
By Olivia Hanig:
Every year Algona High School puts on a musical in the fall and a play in the spring. Last semester the theater department performed the musical "Newsies," which was held in October. The musical was based on a rebellious newsboy who dreams of being an artist away from the big city.
This semester’s spring play is called "The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong" by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. "The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong" is about the rowdiness of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society. It specifically focuses on their attempts to perform a 1920s murder mystery. The first performance of this play was in 2012 in London. It was then moved to Trafalgar Studios in 2013.
This play will be performed on April 1st at 7:00pm and the 2nd at 2pm in the Ed and Betty Wilcox Performing Arts Center. The characters in this play are Riker Brindley, Hannah Severson, Dane Nygaard, Loralei Brady, Jacob Barglof, Aidan Morris, Jacob Schutter, and Seth Walker.
Jacob Barglof stated, “The spring play is gonna have some excellent comedy.” Make sure to check out the play if you want a good laugh!
