The Bulldogs have been playing some great basketball! As of now, the girls are 10-2 in the Conference and 13-6 overall. The boys are 3-6 in the Conference and 9-7 overall.
Last Friday, January 20th, the Bulldogs played Webster City at home. The girls played amazing against the Lynx, with the final score of 63-24. Casey VanOtterloo ended the game with 19 points and Lauren McLaughlin had 16 points and 7 rebounds.
The boys had a close game against the Lynx, going into overtime, but the Dogs came up just two short, 72-74. Ben Helmers was leading scorer with 25 points and Simon Feucht scored 14 by the end of the night.
The boys had their Pocahontas game that was postponed on Thursday, January 19th, moved to Saturday, January 21st. The boys had a great night, wining their game 72-45. Both Alex Manske and Ben Helmers had a good game. Helmers ended the game with 18 points and Manske had 14 points and 17 rebounds.
The girls’ game that was also canceled on Thursday, January 19th, will not be rescheduled.
On Monday, January 23rd, the girls had a home game against Iowa Falls-Alden. The girls played at 6:15 and performed amazingly against the Cadets. A’Lailah Perry had 15 points and 13 rebounds on the night. Casey VanOtterloo and Lillian Etherington both finished the game with 11 points. Etherington also had a great defensive night against Iowa Falls.
Tuesday, January 24th was Parents’ Night for the Bulldogs and they took on the Humboldt Wildcats. The girls had an amazing night, with a finishing score of 44-30. Perry played well that night, getting 12 rebounds and 9 points.
The boys had yet another close game. The ending score for the boys’ game was 85-89. The boys played a tough, great game against a talented Wildcats team and put up a good fight.
On Friday, January 27th the Bulldogs traveled to Iowa Falls. The girls had a close game that went into overtime. The girls fought hard and pulled through with a win with the final score of 63-60. VanOtterloo had an outstanding game against the Cadets, scoring 26 points.
The boys had a close game again Friday night. The final score for the boys was 64-67. Alex Manske and Ben Helmers had great games. Manske scored 19 points and had 16 rebounds. Helmers had 18 points and 3 steals.
The Bulldogs played Clear Lake on January, 30th. The girls’ game was a close one, but the Dogs came up three points short. The final score for the girls was 51-54. McLaughlin performed well against the Lions, scoring 22 points and getting 8 rebounds.
For the boys, the final score was 55-62. The boys played well and stayed with the Lions for most of the game. Helmers and Tristin Larsen both had great games. Helmers had 20 points and Larsen had 12.
The Bulldogs end play this week on Friday, February 3rd, at St. Edmonds. The girls play at 6:15 and the boys follow at 7:45. The boys also have a home game against Iowa Falls-Alden on Saturday, February 4th, at 3:30. Simon Feucht states, “Posting up is overrated.”
