Fall 2022

Fall is one of the best times of the year for many people. The leaves are changing and the temperature is getting cooler. Having the windows open and getting wonderful fresh air is soothing for the soul. Fall began on September 22 and ends on December 21.

People can engage in a variety of indoor and outdoor fall activities. A couple enjoyable autumnal activities are visiting pumpkin patches and apple orchards. In Fort Dodge, Iowa, there is a popular apple orchard called Community Orchards. Here you can pick your own pumpkins and do a variety of activities, including farm games, a tire mountain, farm tile slide, jumping pillow, cow train, corn box, mighty trikes, and much more! Community Orchards is open from August 1st to December 23rd from 9 am to 6 pm. More locally, you can go to Bode’s Moonlight Garden’s, located just outside of Algona, on the way to Oak Lake. Here you can pick your own pumpkins or purchase pre-picked pumpkins, gourds, and even Indian corn. Farm hours are Saturdays, from 10-4, and Sundays, from 12-4. Be sure to get your pumpkins soon! Knecht Kountry Barn, located just outside of Whittemore, has already run out of pumpkins for sale.

Right now, some people’s all-time favorites are pumpkin drinks, which are available to everyone at a local coffee shop, the Feedmill. Pumpkin lattes and pumpkin spice added to coffee are two seasonal options currently. Rize Nutrition, right next to Feedmill, also has fall-themed drinks, like a “Hocus Pocus” and “Fright Night Tea.” Cailey Carroll purchased the “Fright Night Tea” from Rize Nutrition and stated, “It was so delicious!” Casey’s convenience store even has pumpkin flavored donuts.

Another fun activity to do this fall is checking out the beautifully changing leaves. Beautiful trees may be found in Call Park, and hiking would be a lot of fun as well!

All in all, there are many different activities to do in the fall that everyone can enjoy!
