Student Law Enforcement classes

The Student Law Enforcement program was originally started by Algona Police officers Mark Bacha and Kendal Pals. Pals retired earlier this year. Bacha says that he hopes the classes this year are able to do the activities they’ve done in previous years.

This class does a variety of law enforcement-based activities and is a great opportunity to get to know the officers here in Algona. One of the many fun activities that they have done in years past is Active Shooter training. They have also taken trips to a shooting range in the past. There is an end-of-the-class trip that goes to the Police Academy at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa. Other things this class does include having guest speakers and talks about important topics related to law enforcement.

The first class was on October 6th, but you can join at any time. It takes place every other Wednesday, unless holidays or weather happen to impede it. Classes are at the police station’s car garage and it starts at 6:30 pm and goes until around 8:00 pm. Student Law Enforcement is open to any high school student from all around Kossuth County.
