Maddie Hilbert

This week’s Student Spotlight is Maddie Hilbert. Maddie is a senior at AHS. She enjoys all sorts of things at AHS, like sports, classes, and school activities.

Maddie grew up on an acreage outside of Corwith. She was raised by her parents, Karyn and Dan Hilbert. Maddie is the youngest of three children. In the summer, Maddie enjoys her days lifeguarding at the Wesley pool. She hangs out with her friends whenever possible. Also in her free time, Maddie enjoys lifting weights and trying new healthy recipes.

Maddie has been involved in many school activities over the years. She has enjoyed being on Student Senate, National Honor Society, and Link Crew. She is involved in many other activities outside of school as well, such as church group and AAU sports.

Maddie is involved in sports at AHS, whether it is being in them or attending games. Maddie plays volleyball and basketball. Those sports bring out her competitive spirit. Maddie also enjoys the great workouts her coaches give her. On Friday nights in the fall, you can catch Maddie in the Dawg Pound, cheering on the Algona Bulldogs as they play football. Maddie wants students to know that “getting involved and doing things in school makes the high school experience fun and enjoyable.”

Maddie enjoys all of the classes offered at AHS. One of her favorites though is Mr. Green’s Spanish class. “Green makes it a fun and enjoyable class to be in.” One of Maddie’s favorite things about AHS in general is the fact that every teacher in the school makes it their goal to be respectful to every student who attends AHS. Maddie believes that having respectable teachers makes going to school better.

Maddie plans to attend Iowa State University next school year. Her plan once there is to major in dietetics. As it is Maddie’s final year, she will leave knowing that she was a proud AHS student. Once a Bulldog always a Bulldog!
