On Saturday, March 29th, 24 choir events and 45 band events traveled to Clear Lake to compete in one of the eight district sites for a solo/ensemble contest. Receiving a placement from Division I as best to Division III as needs improvement, students got great suggestions from performing in front of judges.
Between the choir and band, 36 Division I ratings, 31 Division II ratings, and 2 Division III ratings were received. There is one Outstanding Performer chosen per room at each district site, and those who are chosen get the opportunity to perform at Iowa State University.
Lydia and Hannah Dose received a perfect score on their vocal duet, which was also chosen as an Outstanding Performance and will join the band wind quintet of Owen Orban, Brooklyn Adams, David Kissinger, Nile Owen, and Abigail Droessler, who also won Outstanding Performance on their piece called, “Movement 4 of the Dvorak String Quartet.” David Kissinger was also named as an Outstanding Performance for his solo, “The Glass Bead Game.” These Outstanding Performers will showcase their talents in Ames in May at the Outstanding Performers Festival at Iowa State University.
Mr. Liebl, AHS band director, says, “Our students worked incredibly hard and performed beautifully.” We are very proud of all of our Bulldog performers!
