The AHS girls’ track team is off and running. They have competed in three indoor meets. Their first meet was at Mason City’s indoor invitational on Tuesday, March 18th. Then they traveled to Humboldt for another indoor invitational on Thursday, March 20th. Their third meet was in Clear Lake, on March 27th.

Spring break did not stop some girls from competing. At Mason City, Natalie Johnson placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.64 seconds. Macy Knapp placed second in the 300 meter run with a time of 2:32.89. Senior, Kayla Buscher, is back throwing after her wrist surgery this past fall. She placed 6th out of 48 athletes in the shot put.

After Tuesday’s meet, the Bulldogs were back in action on Thursday. They traveled to Humboldt for an indoor invitational. Algona’s 4x200 meter relay took home first with a time of 1:57.23. Taking home another first place was the 4x400 meter relay. They ran the four laps in 4:33.98. Jada Roberts, who is improving in the high jump event, jumped a height of five feet.

The Bulldogs finished their week in Clear Lake on Thursday, March 27th. The team placed second out of 15 teams with 78 points. Malyn Davis said, “It was a good way to end our indoor season.” There were many outstanding performances to place second as a team. The 4x800 meter relay ran their eight laps in 10:39.76 to win the event. Reagan Haynes placed third in the shot put, throwing 37-02.25 feet.

The girls’ track team doesn’t run again until April 8th in Clear Lake, so go support the Bulldogs!
