The AHS FCCLA chapter went down to Cedar Rapids on Sunday, March 23rd, to Tuesday, March 25th, and came back with five silver medals and three bronze medals. Students in the chapter had a wide variety of projects, ranging from fundraising to scientific human projects to making a website for our community.
The five silver medalists were Hillary Holmes, Kaitlyn Burns, Abby Lampe, Gabby Venteicher, and Lainey Venteicher. The three bronze medalists were Caitlin Louscher, Natalee Reemtsma, and Abbi Reemtsma. Those eight students were part of the State projects while one student, Alissa Engel, was a part of the Iowa events, which is like the State projects but smaller.
Sunday started with the opening ceremony. On Monday, throughout the day, they were judged on their projects while their advisor, Mrs. Louwagie, judged other students on their projects. On Tuesday they went to exciting breakouts about mental health, educating young adults on financing, and learning about the different ways agriculture helps Iowa.
Overall the ladies learned about how to be great leaders and they also made many memories and did many fun activities while they were there. Lainey Venteicher commented, “My favorite part was hanging out with my friends and the chapter.”
Congratulations to the 2025 State FCCLA chapter. The chapter will have three seniors leaving them this year. Good luck to Kaitlyn Burns, Lainey Venteicher, and Caitlin Louscher in your future.
