It's that time of year again, for juniors and seniors to have the chance to apply for the National Honor Society. According to the National Honor Society packet, “National Honor Society is a national organization that recognizes students on not only their academic achievement but in achievements in leadership, character, and service.”

In order to be considered for the National Honor Society, students must meet the following requirements. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Students also must document a minimum of 30 hours of community service. They also must submit a typed application packet and two recommendation letters that address the student’s leadership, character, and service.

Students who are interested in National Honor Society must attend one mandatory meeting, in Mrs. Niles’ room. The meetings were Thursday and Friday, February 13 & 14. Application packets are due to Spear or Niles by 4:00 Friday, February 21, 2025.

The induction ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 7:00 pm.  Current members of the National Honor Society are responsible for running the new induction ceremony.  The National Honor Society induction ceremony runs in conjunction with the Academic Night of Excellence. Students will be notified the week of February 27th if they are being inducted.

Josie Jennings, current member of NHS, says, “National Honor Society is a good way to reflect back on your accomplishments and receive recognition for it.”
