Girls' state wrestling 2025

Written by Malyn Davis

Three AHS girls made the trip to Coralville on February 6th, and three girls came home with medals around their necks, making them the first ever girls’ wrestling State placewinners for AHS.

Day one, the girls came out hot and all got a first round win over highly ranked opponents. The second round was a battle, but unfortunately all three girls came up short, putting themselves on the backside of the brackets. With everything at stake and with the pressure on, they all managed to get another win to send them to day two.

At 100 pounds, Mara Davis came into the tournament seeded sixth and put up a 4-2 record to take home fifth place and ending her season 41-11. Malyn Davis, weighing in at 120 pounds, was seeded 12th coming into the tournament. She took out the five seed in round one and took home seventh place, ending her career with an overall record of 130-23. Freshman, Regan Jensen, also had an impressive tournament, taking out the second seed along the way and taking home seventh place.

Assistant coach Luke Satern says he is “extremely excited for what we have coming up next year” and he is “very happy with how we wrapped up this season.” Both Mara Davis and Jensen will be returning members next year for the Bulldogs while Malyn Davis will be graduating this year.
