Special Olympics is composed of events where students who have disabilities compete in different sports and activities. Last week AHS Special Olympic athletes traveled to Spirit Lake for the basketball skills competition. The skills they competed in include dribbling, shooting, and passing.
From AHS, Gaje Petersen and Alyssa Moody got 1st place, Adam Henrich tied with Ryan Barglof for 2nd place, and Emma Lucas and Alex Romero-Foust also competed in the basketball skills competition. Gaje Petersen says, “I love getting first place.”
By placing first, Petersen and Moody advance to the State competition, which will be held at Extreme Arena in Coralville on March 15th.
