Wrestling Osage champions 2025

Algona boys’ wrestling team is having great success this year! Their current overall record is 4-0, and they are 3-0 in the Conference. During the time before Algona held the NCC meet, they had the chance to wrestle teams such as Webster City, Saint Edmond, Forest City, Estherville, Okoboji, and Cherokee, just to name a few. 

According to Flowrestling, the Bulldogs have several ranked wrestlers. The first ranked wrestler is Barrett Morgan. He takes the third ranked spot at 144. Ashton Moreno is ranked number 7 at 150. Tate Slagle is number 4 at 157. Lastly, Jack Limbaugh is at number 9 at 285. 

The Bulldogs hosted the annual NCC tournament on Saturday, January 25, placing first as a team in the meet! Individual champions on the day include: Brooks Morgan, Tate Slagle, Gavin Goche, Ashton Moreno, and Carter McGregor.  

On January 28th, the boys hosted West Hancock, resulting in a 65-12 win over the Eagles. Caden Kuecker, a sophomore, said,"Wrestling is hard, but it will help you later in life.” 

Their next meet will be the Regional duals meet in Algona to see if the team advances to State duals. Algona, ranked #1, hosts Crestwood and West Marshall, ranked 23 and 21 respectively, on February 4th.

State duals will be held on February 8th and then Districts will be held on February 15th. 

The seniors on the team this year are Cody Harms, Owen Johnson, Jack Limbaugh, Ashton Moreno,

Ezra Oldenkamp, Tate Slagle, Chance Studer, Elijah Wilhite, and Isaac Wilson.
