Going into this week, the boys’ basketball team is currently 4-8 while the girls are 11-3.
On Friday, January 17th, the boys and girls traveled to Humboldt. The girls pulled out a great win, winning 54-42. Hayden McLaughlin led the scoring with 12 points and Hayden Kuhlmann added 9. Lauren McLaughlin said, “Seeing everyone succeed makes me happy. It can be anyone’s night on any given night. That’s what makes us so special.”
The boys had a close game but lost 65-73. Nathan Manske had his season high in points with 20, shooting 8/11 from the field and 4/5 from three. Levi Walker said, “I’ve really enjoyed competing with all my friends.”
On Saturday, January 18th, the boys and girls hosted Spencer. The girls started out Saturday with a big win, beating Spencer 57-24. Hayden McLaughlin had a great game with 15 points. Casey VanOtterloo added 14.
The boys had another loss to a tough Spencer team, losing 56-38. Nathan Manske led with 12 points.
On Monday, January 20th, the Bulldog boys and girls hosted a big Conference matchup against Clear Lake. The girls pulled out a very close win in an entertaining game. They won 47-44, outscoring Clear Lake 17-6 in the fourth quarter. Hayden McLaughlin had 23 points and BellaJo Dunning pulled in 8 rebounds.
The boys went up against an undefeated Clear Lake team and couldn’t pull out the win. They lost 43-82. Ben Helmers led scoring with 25 points. Jacob Burns led the rebounding with four.
On Thursday, January 23rd, the Bulldogs hosted Pocahontas Area. The PAC girls came into the matchup with a 10-3 record while their boys are 2-10.
Today the Bulldog boys and girls are headed to Iowa Falls. On the 28th they are headed to St Eds. Good luck to the Bulldogs as they round out the second half of their season.
