NCC wrestling champions 2025

The Algona boys’ wrestling team is currently undefeated in duals on the season and boast a number one ranking in class 2A by IA Wrestle.

The Algona boys’ wrestling team traveled to Clear Lake for a triangular with Clear Lake and Hampton on January 16th. Top performers during the Clear Lake dual were Brody Shipler, Gavin Goche, and Isaac Wilson, all who recorded pins as the Bulldogs took down Clear Lake 61-16.

During the second dual of the night, the boys took down Hampton with a team score of 51-16. Top performers of the dual were Thomas Zabka, Isaac Wilson, Barrett Morgan, Brody Shipler, Gavin Goche, and Jack Limbaugh, all recording falls.

The boys traveled to Creston for the highly competitive Creston Invitational on January 18th. The team placed second. Individual champions from the tournament include Elijah Wilhite, Ashton Moreno, Tate Slagle, and Carter McGregor.

Also on January 18th, the girls wrestled in the NCC meet at Iowa Falls. Conference champions for the girls include Mara Davis, Laura Stohr, Malyn Davis, Lilly Allie, Emmy Owen, and Reagan Jensen. The girls also took home the team title for the fourth year in a row!

The girls traveled to Hampton for a quad on the 20th against Perry, Hampton, and Nevada. In the Hampton dual, Lillian Allie, Alissa Engel, Sienna Fehr, and Reagan Haynes all recorded pins. The team score final was 64-12. Malyn Davis, Lillian Allie, Sienna Fehr, Alyssa Miller, and Reagan Jensen all recorded falls in the 66-18 victory over Nevada. To wrap up the evening, in the Perry dual, Makayla Erpelding and Malyn Davis recorded pins in the 60- 17 victory. 

The boys hosted Rockford and Lake Mills for a triangular on Tuesday, January 22. Algona took down Rockford with a final score of 83-0. Top performers in Rockford dual include Jack Limbaugh and Gavin Goche, both recording falls. Most of the other wrestlers received forfeits. The Bulldogs took down Lake Mills with a final dual score of 49-15. This matchup included several ranked wrestlers for both teams. Top performances include Tayten Rummel, Gavin Goche, Jack Limbaugh, and Brooks Morgan, all recording pins.

The boys gear up for the highly regarded NCC tournament on Saturday, January 25th, in Algona while the girls travel to Mason City. Go Bulldogs!
