On Monday, Nov 11, the Algona MS will present their annual Veteran's Day program. Veterans will be honored & the program is open to the public. Doors open at 9:10 AM & the ceremony starts at 9:30 in the Wilcox PAC. A reception will follow for veterans in attendance.

The AHS Band & choir programs had a record setting day for All-State auditions on October 26th. Twenty-five students auditioned & 15 were selected for a spot in the All-State Band, Choir & Orchestra. Congratulations to those students & their directors!

The elementaries at ACSD are asking people to bring non-perishable items for the Pack the Trailer project that is done in cooperation with AK Chrome on Friday November 15.
There will be boxes at each school to collect items in & will be taken it to the trailer on that day.

On Monday, Oct. 28th, the third graders went to Wild Haven with Mr. Young's biology students. They went on a scavenger hunt to find different species of animals (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds), invertebrates, and plants.

Congratulations to Bailey Merkel, Natalie Orban and Ethan Orban for being selected to participate in the 38th annual Opus Honor Choir Festival. Over 2400 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition. The 2024 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4:00 p.m. November 21st in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is made possible by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.
