Fifteen Algona Middle School Band students were named to the NCIBA All District Honor Band held on Saturday, November 15 at the Wilcox PAC. These talented musicians had their performance resumes submitted by their teachers, and the top students were chosen for the NCIBA District Honor Band. The students spent the day in rehearsal in preparation for the evening concert. Algona had the most students named All District of any school in north central Iowa.

The AMS Vocal music department had seven students selected for the Iowa Opus Honor Choir, an all-state level experience for middle school students. Their performance will be this Thursday, November 20 at 4pm at CY Stephens Auditorium in Ames. Congratulations to those selected students!

Six members of the Algona Middle School Band were selected to the All Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band. These students earned the title of All Iowa by winning an audition at the North Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (NCIBA) District Honor Band Festival, held on Saturday, November 15 at Algona Middle School. The All Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band is made up of the finest 8th grade band students in the state of Iowa. The six students who were selected, along with a seventh student selected as an alternate, marks the most band students named All Iowa in Algona Middle School history. These students will put on a concert as part of the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference on May 14 in Des Moines.

Ella Welp (seeded 20th) placed 16th for the 100 breaststroke today with a season best time of 1:10.25. This punches her ticket for the swimming finals tomorrow. Finals start tomorrow at noon! Congrats, Ella!
