Mental Health Awareness Concert 2025

Written by Olivia Thilges

On Thursday, March 6th, the Algona High School Student Senate hosted a mental health concert for the community. The goal of this concert was to help raise awareness and shed light on many different mental health issues.

Many Algona students performed live during the night. Students Jordan Jansen, Catherine Hart, Adeline Reynolds, Ryley Riggert, Kinsey Throne, Mada Steburg, Evan Steburg, Natalee Reemtsma, Elijah Garrett, Hannah Severson, Connor Reagan, Kennedi Blair, and Flynn McCann showed off their musical talents. During this night, special guest Emma Elsbecker also performed. Elsbecker was the original founder of this event five years back.

Throughout the night there was a bake sale to help raise money for the cause. Algona school counselors, along with other mental health professionals from the community, such as Seasons Center, CARE team, KRHC, and many others, were set up in the PAC lobby to help spread mental health information to those in attendance.

Madi Adams comments on the mental health concert, “The mental health concert is a great way to connect with others.”
