ACSF

Algona High School is the place for scholarships! Last year, over $980,000 was given to AHS graduates. These scholarships are funded by the Algona Community School Foundation and other private funds.

The biggest available scholarship opportunity for all students is the Arlen Benschoter Educational Advancement Award. This award was started in 2023 and gives around $2000 to every AHS graduate who applies. The Benschoter is only one of 47 scholarships available through the Algona Community School Foundation. To apply for the ACSF scholarships, you have to fill out a Google form, located on the ACSD website. The form must be completed and turned in by Friday, April 4th, at four pm. Katie Ludwig says, “It was a fast and easy process.”

Other scholarships can be found on Xello and other websites. Many colleges give out their own scholarships to students attending the following school year, so be sure to check those out as well.

Almost all scholarships require FAFSA information, which should be completed by now. Some other requirements may include reference letters, a personal essay,  a resume, or a copy of your transcript.

Be sure to watch deadlines and get applications turned in. Doing the work now can save you lots of money in the future!
