The Algona High School Bark House is run by students in a class called Bulldog Bites. In that class, students learn how to make food and drinks and sell them like they would if it was their own business. The students take a few days to perfect their tea and shake drink recipes before selling to people in the school. The students were faced with a challenge on how they could make the Bark House versatile to people with different tastes. They first started off with making different drinks and drink flavors.
After days of researching, they decided to make and sell egg bites and pre-made meals for teachers. The meals that they are selling for the teachers include chicken broccoli and rice casserole or tater tot casserole. The meals cost four dollars for a small portion and five dollars for a bigger portion. They are also selling a new fizzy lotus drink with multiple flavors. They are also making a new drink for Valentine's Day! There is a new pink lemonade drink, chocolate covered strawberries, and cake pops.
The students who run the Bark House are Summer Thompson, Natalee Reemtsma, Kaitlyn Kemna, Lilly Menage, Bre Ricklefs, Aylee Herke, Aubrey Gardalen, Emma Cecil, Chance Vasquez, Rylan Kampen, Gabe Becker-Harms, and Bode Brunsvold. Summer Thompson, a junior, said, ”You get to be creative and since it's a student-led class, there are no assignments.”
