The Algona girls’ volleyball team ended their 2024 season with an overall record of 17-12 and a Conference record of 4-3.
The volleyball team had a great season, winning a total of 17 matches. Algona ended up tying for 3rd in the Conference. They held this spot with St. Edmond and Hampton. The Bulldogs won four Conference games this season including Clear Lake, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Iowa Falls-Alden, and Hampton-Dumont- CAL.
In the postseason, the Bulldogs ended up making it to the semifinals. The Algona volleyball team hasn’t made it to the semifinals since 2020. Algona played Spirit Lake for their first round Regional game and ended up winning in three sets. The Bulldogs then played Western Christian in the second round. The Bulldogs put up a good fight but lost in three sets.
This season the Algona volleyball team had three players earn All-Conference honors. Macy Knapp and Lainey Venteicher both were named to the 3rd team and Lauren McLaughlin was named 1st team. Junior, Macy Knapp, said, “I always wear the wrong jersey.”

seniors: Lainey Venteicher, Casey VanOtterloo, Paige Schmitt, Lauren McLaughlin, Andi Jensen, Ryan Haynes, Emma Cecil, and Fransheska Monge Morales. They will be dearly missed by our school and community.
