The AHS golf teams have had a successful season so far this year. With the weather semi-cooperating, both the girls and the boys have been able to have a decent amount of meets.
The boys had a home meet on Friday, the 19th, against Clear Lake. They ended up getting 2nd with a total score of 166. Sam Schutjer led the team with a 37, and Alex Manske followed with a 39. Their tournament on Saturday, the 20th, was canceled due to bad weather.
Their next meet was at Estherville on Monday. The boys were able to beat both Estherville and Spirit Lake with a score of 166. Their leading scorer was Alex Manske, shooting a 40. Nathan Manske followed right behind, with a 41. Alex Manske says, “Golfing with my friends makes it fun every day.”
The boys then had a triangular against Humboldt and Clarion on the 25th. The boys shot a total score of 170, getting 2nd place. Their top scorer was Nathan Manske shooting 37 with Alex Manske following with a 40.
They had a tournament on Saturday, the 27th, that was canceled due to bad weather. Then they had a meet on Monday, the 29th, against Iowa Falls-Alden and Webster City. The boys placed 1st with a 166. Alex Manske and Nathan Manske tied for 2nd, both shooting a 40. Alex Brooks was next with a 41. Their next meet was supposed to be on Tuesday the 30th, but it was canceled due to bad weather.
The girls have also had a busy couple of weeks. They had a meet against Clear Lake on the 19th. They were close to the win, losing by just four points, with a score of 199. Abby Brooks was the top scorer with a 41. Lainey Veinteicher was next with a 48.
The team’s next meet was against Spencer and Western Christian. They got second, losing to Spencer, with a score of 204. The team leader was Abby Brooks with a 44, and Faith Zeller followed her with a 48.
The girls’ team had a triangular at home on the 25th against Iowa Falls-Alden and Webster City. The team got 1st with a score of 210. The top scorer was Abby Brooks, shooting 45. Lainey Veinteicher was next with a 52.
They had a tournament on Monday the 29th with eight teams participating. The girls placed 3rd with a total score of 417. Abby Brooks placed 5th with a score of 92. Their next meet was on Tuesday the 30th, but it was canceled due to the weather.
The boys and girls both ended their weeks with a coed meet against Bishop Garrigan. Good luck to the boys and girls golf teams for the rest of their season!
