The class of 2024 is counting down the days until graduation. The seniors’ last regular day of classes is Monday, May 13th, with lots packed into their final days.
On Friday, May 3rd, the senior class will have commencement rehearsal in the high school gym. Attendance for rehearsal is required for participation in commencement. Rehearsal will take place during advisory.
On Tuesday, May 14th, seniors will be attending a senior breakfast, hosted by the AHS faculty and staff. The breakfast is to honor the students for the work and dedication they have put into school. It will take place at 7:30am in the high school commons.
Following the breakfast, seniors will head to the Wilcox Performing Arts Center for their awards ceremony. All AHS seniors will be in attendance and families are strongly encouraged to attend. The award ceremony is at 8:30am and will conclude around 10:00am. Several scholarships and awards will be given during this time. It is a semi-formal event, so all students should dress appropriately. No jeans, t-shirts, or shorts should be worn.
After the awards ceremony, the seniors will be participating in the annual Walk Through the Ages. They will be traveling to all of the elementary buildings and the middle school to walk through the halls one last time. They will end with walking through the high school. Cap and gowns will be worn during this time.
Following the Walk Through the Ages, the class of 2024 will have their final checkout meeting with Mr. Cecil. This will take place in the high school gym and attendance is required in order to participate in commencement. All seniors should bring their completed checkout sheet.
On Sunday, May 19th, commencement will be held in the AHS gym for the graduating class of 2024. This is a time for them to be honored for all of their hard work and accomplishments. This also gives them time to say goodbye and start a new chapter. Commencement will take place at 2:00pm. All seniors should meet in the middle school commons at 1:00pm in their cap and gowns. Jacob Schutter says, “I can’t wait to see what our grade has in store for the future. We will be alumni before we know it. Let our last moments together be memorable.”
