Algona Community School District had to say a hard goodbye to Theresa Kuecker, as she retired on April 5th. Mrs. Kuecker has been working at AHS for almost 26 years. Before starting at AHS, she stayed home with her four boys and babysat for Dawn Bjustrom while she went to school to work as a PE teacher and golf coach. Kuecker first started as the high school secretary in 1998.
When asked what her favorite memory was, Mrs. Kuecker stated, “I have so many really good memories from working here. I guess one of the attributes of this job is the people I work with. I have been blessed to work with wonderful people who have become my friends.” Mrs. Kuecker also expresses that she will miss the faculty, staff, and students greatly.
During retirement, Mrs. Kuecker plans to help her friends and family who need her. Starting in May, she will babysit her new beautiful granddaughter. She also plans on spending a lot of time with her 13 grandchildren, watching them grow up. In her free time, she hopes to spend a lot of time at Lost Island Lake, biking, going for walks whenever she wants, and working in her garden. Mrs. Kuecker also said she plans to learn how to play pickleball so she can teach Shriji how to play better. Mrs. Kuecker stated, “And then we will be able to beat that little freshman Charli Dodds next time.” Mrs. Kuecker and Shriji Patel were knocked out of this year’s pickleball tournament early this year by Charli Dodds and Maya Lentz. A rematch may need to be scheduled.
Thank you for all you have done for the school, students, and staff Mrs. Kuecker!
