The end of year is approaching, which means it is almost time to take the Iowa Assessments! Attending the test dates are very important. The test allows for students to be assessed on their skills in reading, language, mathematics, social studies, and science. The test is taken online. Regarding the upcoming tests, Emma Cecil says, “I only enjoy taking the tests because I get snacks halfway through.”
Students in the district will take the tests at different times between April 9th and April 19th. Lucia Wallace will have their tests in the mornings, between April 9th and 12th. Middle school students will have two hours in the morning to do the tests. Grades 5th and 8th will be on April 9th, 11th, and 15th while grades 6th and 7th will be on April 10th and 12th. High school will be during the first ninety minutes of the day on April 12th, 16th, and 19th. Seniors do not have to take the assessments. Classes will continue the rest of the day following the tests.
The Iowa Assessments are a yearly occasion for all students. Teachers can inform parents of their students’ progress. Scores can be compared from previous years to make sure students are continuing to learn what they need. Areas that are weak can give the teacher an idea of what needs more focus as a class.
Get rested up, charge your Chromebook, and give Iowa assessments your best effort!
