Algona High School got the chance to show off their artistic talent with two recent art shows. The North Central Conference art show was held on Thursday, April 22nd, in our very own Performing Arts Center lobby. This was a virtual art show with schools showcasing their work over Zoom. However, Humboldt High School was able to travel to Algona to be in person. Students presented their artwork in many different categories. Photography, clays, oil painting, and charcoal drawings were just a few of the stunning pieces. Olivia Frankl won the Judges Choice award, and Briana Frankl won the Student Choice award.
Our very own artists at AHS who participated in this event include Bethany Carlson, Briana Frankl, Bella Sneddon, Caitlyn Tran, Kenzi Carrigan, Kaylee Cook, Maddie Nevitt, Olivia Frankl, and Reece Eakins. Reece Eakins states, “It was fun to show off my work in the art shows; AHS has great talent, and I’m glad to be a part of it.”
This same group of artists traveled to a site in the Eastland Hill Plaza, just off of Highway 18, on Friday, the 23rd, to showcase their work at the Stinson Prairie Art Show. Students from Algona, Bishop Garrigan, and West Bend competed at this show and it was quite a tough competition with all of the amazing talent. The Best of Show went to Olivia Frankl with her pencil drawing. Bella Sneddon received Honorable Mention with her charcoal drawing, and Reece Eakins won Best of Show for Algona with his dragon sculpture.
Congratulations to all of these artists and make sure you check out their work around the school!
