FFA students prepare for the District Soil Contest on October 21st.

Upperclassmen in FFA and the Natural Resources class are currently preparing for the District Soils Contest, which is quickly approaching on October 21st. The students in the Natural Resources class have been busy learning about soils and each of their structures. Students have also been practicing their twenty-five foot pacing, which determines the slope. Students also have been reviewing for their 40 point test coming up. Good luck!

Since COVID is impacting everyone, FFA has definitely been affected. The 93rd National FFA Convention is to be held online this year, from October 27th to the 29th. Every FFA student has the ability to check out the different activities during their own agriculture class period.

In the classroom, Mrs. Becker has had to reduce the amount of group work and use more individual-based activities. The use of Zoom has also been present in the classroom for group collaboration in order to maintain social distancing. Students are still trying to adjust, but junior, Allison Kramer, says, “Don’t be afraid to be involved, it will be fun regardless of COVID.”

The October FFA meeting is coming up on October 29th. Here they will be having a watch party to announce the new National officers. Details of the party are still being worked out.
