National History Day
Written by: Taylor Madden
AHS students Dylan Berte, Mihir Modi, Carter Casey, and Zach Hauptmann traveled to Waldorf University on February 28th to participate in the National History Day District contest. To participate, each student chose a topic to research and then presented it in the form of a research paper. Topics are centered around a historical theme. The theme this year was “Breaking Barriers in History.”
All four students received outstanding feedback for the work they did, but Zach Hauptman was selected to go to Des Moines on April 27th to represent the district at the State contest. Hauptman says, “It’s always fun to go in depth on a topic that not a lot of people talk about. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re into history or writing in general.” The National History Day contest is open to any high school student who has an interest in participating. At AHS, contact Mr. Connick if you have any questions or are interested in joining.
