Have a heart, give blood
Written by: Taylor Madden
On Friday, February 14, 2020, the National Honor Society will be hosting a blood drive at Algona High School in the gym from 9am until 2pm. The goal of the drive is to collect at least 43 donations. By getting all 43 donations, they will be able to help 129 lives.
High school students who donate blood three times before graduation will receive a special red cord to wear at graduation, a certificate of achievement, a letter of accomplishment from LifeServe Blood Center president, and recognition in a press release sent to the local newspaper.
A few requirements need to be met in order to be eligible to donate. The donor must be at least 16 years of age. They will need a parent or guardian’s permission form signed if it is their first time donating and they are under 18. It is also required to weigh more than 120 pounds at the time of donation.
To help the National Honor Society members achieve their goal and improve lives around our community, contact one of the members of National Honor Society or sign up in the Algona High School office to book an appointment.
