The AHS Diamond dancers traveled to the Iowa Events Center on Thursday, December 5th, and Friday, December 6th. These girls have been working hard for the past four months, since learning the choreography in early August, to achieve what they did at ISDTA State.

The dance team performed their kick routine on the 5th at 6:03 pm in HyVee Hall. This routine was police themed and featured eight out of their thirteen member: Cearra Crosser, Makenna Van Zante, Sadie Besch, Lizzie Carr, Beth Anderson, Dionna VanGorkom, Jasmyne Harrison, and Calli Mawdsley. The two minute routine was able to bring home second place out of twelve teams.

Next, the girls performed their pom routine on Friday at 2:02 pm, also in HyVee Hall. The participants were the same as kick but also with Maddie Nevitt to make the team nine members strong. This outstanding performance took fourth place out eleven teams.

Senior captain, Cearra Crosser, said, “My favorite thing about State was making Tik Toks in our hotel room. Otherwise, we did the best we could and did better than last year.”

The AHS dance team’s season is far from over, as they look forward to performing at five home basketball games during this winter season, along with their spring show in early March. Good job to all of the girls, and thank you seniors for a memorable season!
